NEET UG, MBBS: According to the GMER 2023 released by NMC, from 2024, a common counseling will be done instead of separate counseling for All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota for MBBS admission.
NEET UG, MBBS Admission: There is big news for the students who are seeking admission in MBBS after passing NEET exam this year and preparing to give NEET 2024 next year. In the recently issued guidelines by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the regulator of medical education, it has been said that the supplementary batch in the MBBS course will end from this year itself. At present, the supplementary exam is conducted for MBBS students after six months of the declaration of the result. But as per the new guidelines of NMAC, the supplementary examination will be conducted within six weeks of the result declaration so that the students can join the main regular batch in the same year. There will be no supplementary batch for those who fail again, they will have to join the next batch.
NEET Common Counseling Preparation
According to the Graduate Medical Education Regulation 2023 (GMER) issued by NMC, from 2024, a common counseling will be done for MBBS admission instead of separate counseling for All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota. At present, the counseling for 15% seats in All India Quota Medical Colleges is done by the Central Authority Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) and the counseling for 85% seats in State Quota is done by the State Authority.
At present, due to different counseling systems, students have to register separately for AIQ and State Quota counseling. Different fees have to be paid in each state. Physically one has to go to the states for counselling. The Common Counseling Platform will enable students to apply for seats across the country on a single portal. In this way, preparations are being made to ease the path of students for MBBS admission.
Preparing to implement from 2024, not this year
Common counseling in NEET is set to start from next year. This system will not start from this year. Officials have said that it is still in preparation. He said, ‘A new software will be required for common counselling. Talks are also going on between the health ministry and the states to bring the entire counseling process on a single platform.
Apart from this, it has been said in the regulations that the admission process will start from August 1 and the admission process should be completed by August 30. Universities will not admit any student who gets admission after 30th August.
